Vows

In this issue of Weddings of Grace we explore the words of the wedding. Words have power and magic in them. You can feel words: warm, soothing, comforting, moving. Words can be heartfelt: genuine, sincere, cordial. (And would you want to express your life any other way?)

Ancient rituals were created out of the wisdom of our human mythology, using the spoken word—as well as words in chant and song—to open us to a deeper dimension of ourselves. To offer a vow to someone is to give your word. Is giving your word any less intimate than giving your heart? I open my heart to you—I offer my love to you—I give my word to you.
