A Wedding Remembered
While the three of us looked at their wedding photographs—during “high tea” at the Ritz Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta—I chatted with Lisa and Harvey Tipler of Destin, Florida, about planning their 1995 wedding in the Cotswolds of England.
| Lisa acknowledged that although she had put away the photographs after the wedding disappointed—thinking that they had not captured the beauty she remembered—she was now delighted with what she saw. I told her that sometimes the emotional aftermath of a wedding can cloud and distort one’s view, then after a bit of time, that ole nemesis, “expected perfection,” softens, bringing one’s heart into clearer focus. |

As we talked over afternoon tea, I enjoyed Lisa’s animated joy as she recreated their wedding and I was moved by how Harvey watched her, listening, taking pleasure in the opportunity to share his memories as well. And I felt as if I was in the presence of a man falling in love all over again. -CP

With a honeymoon in a place called the Garden of Eden—an idyllic island amongst the beautiful Seychelles in the Indian Ocean—one wouldn’t be surprised that the wedding of Lisa and Harvey Tipler in the Cotswolds of England was a bit like paradise as well. Paradise is not necessarily a perfect place, but it is where our hearts open and intimacy is possible; where Mother Nature delights our senses and brings pleasure and peace to our inner spirit. And for Lisa and Harvey, paradise is also where friends and family connect to share precious rituals of life in a chosen place of heritage and ceremony.
